Originally a physicist, Ken spent over 30 years in academic research – at Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt universities. After a decade in Artificial Intelligence he moved across the city of Edinburgh to become a co-founding director of the Graduate Business School at Heriot-Watt University.
There he began a lengthy involvement in distance and on-line learning stretching back to 1991 when, as a director of the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University he was the key designer and developer of its highly successful on-line MBA programme. He also initiated and project managed the development of the University’s globally successful undergraduate Management Programme.
After as spell back at Edinburgh University, as an Associate Dean, he retired from academia to focus on CAPDM – a consultancy and developer of online distance learning businesses, working predominantly with UK universities. At present he is working extensively with London University and their online partner Coursera.
